Drug rehab isn’t for the faint of heart
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008Drug rehab isn’t for the faint of heart. Too many Los Angeles drug rehabs would have you believe that drug rehabilitation is a passive activity, or spectator sport. But nothing could be further from the truth. The plain fact of the matter is that drug addiction is a personal disease, and drug rehab can only succeed by virtue of personal effort. If you want your drug rehabilitation program to work for you, in other words, you’re going to have to work for your drug rehabilitation program.
None of this is to say that you don’t need help from a private drug rehab center. You do. But the nature of that help is crucially important. The best drug rehab facilities are those which empower their patients, by giving them the skills and support they need to get better on their own terms. Healing must come from the bottom up, and can never be imposed from the top down. Any drug rehab center that fails to recognize that much does an enormous disservice to its clients. Let today be the day you finally get the kind of support you need to get where you’re trying to go.
