Drug Treatment Centers regain dignity, vigor that has been stripped away
Drug treatment centers are in the business of healing, and of hope. Drug treatment centers, for the record, are not the dark and miserable places they’re often made out to be in the movies and on TV. Drug treatment centers aren’t devoid of hardship, of course…but the point is that they aren’t devoid of joy either. Successful drug treatment centers are those which help their patients regain the dignity and vigor that addiction itself strips away. There are, in the end, far less buoyant missions to undertake.
But healing doesn’t happen by accident. Drug treatment centers, when you really get down to it, are only as successful as their patients make them; drug treatment programs that work are drug treatment programs driven by the active engagement of addicts themselves. The corollary, of course, is that drug treatment isn’t easy: that the only drug treatment patients who get better are the ones who commit themselves the process, and steel themselves for the fight. With so much to lose…and so much more to win…you can’t afford to do anything else.
