Drug Treatment was a series of daily battles for me
Drug treatment was the best…the BEST…thing I ever did. And I hated every minute of it. Drug treatment, in case you don’t know, isn’t easy; drug treatment that works is and has got to be that which is driven by its patients, who can’t ever expect to get where they need to go without suffering a little along the way. Drug treatment patients, you might say, hold their futures in their own hands. And if drug treatment is going to work for them….if drug treatment is going to help them get back to living like they used to, before addiction turned them into shells of their former selves…they’ve got to work for drug treatment.
Drug treatment, for me, was a series of daily battles. That’s how I thought of it, anyway. Every day was unique, totally divorced from the before and the one that followed. There was only the Now, the Moment. Drug treatment worked, for me, because I learned how to pour every ounce of myself into every instant of drug treatment. Was is it easy? Not quite. It was, however, worth it. Drug treatment, like I said, was the best thing I ever did. Drug treatment, quite frankly, saved my life. And if there’s anything better than that, well…I certainly haven’t found it yet.
